Performance Enhancing Cylinders

Patented Technology Developed for Narrow Web Flexo Presses

"I witnessed, first hand, a controlled trial at a university that was designed by a group of highly knowledgeable flexo industry professionals. The trial included a special plate designed to challenge the performance of PEC's to the limit, including design elements that no designer in their right mind would incorporate on one plate. The difference in print quality of the plate mounted on the PEC, vs the plate mounted on conventional .015 tape was amazing. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, and personally set impression multiple times, I don't think I'd believe the claims.” Frank Burgos, Owner, FlexoExchange.com

"The PEC's from Nu Tech Coatings have increased our productivity and efficiencies while decreasing our waste on some of our more quality critical labels. Jim and his staff are great and easy to work with.” Steve Kostichka, Plant Manager, MPI Labeling Systems

" We recently tested a coated print cylinder from Nu Tech Coatings to help us with a problem job. It prints a full vignette in PMS 288 blue. It is the first time in my 21+ years in flexo printing that I have seen the same plate go from printing excessive gear streaks to zero gear streaks just by changing from a conventional print cylinder to this new coated print cylinder.” Bret Beach, General Manager, RR Donnelley

"I don’t know if anyone has heard about these special print cylinders called PEC (Performance Enhancing Cylinders) that eliminate gear marking. I was introduced to them about three or four months ago. We always had issues with [a vignette] label with gear marking, so I bought these PECs for our 4CP. The gear marks went away immediately. The cylinders are 2 – 3 times the cost of a normal cylinder but, the results are well worth it in this case. We tried to over impress the plate during the run and we couldn't.” Plant Manager

"I just tested the new cylinder on my Comco, and liked the results. I tested it with 3 different inks and 3 different plate materials. The screens on the process plate held open and the solids were very good. I didn’t see any halos around the images like I would have expected with the increased impression. The [high durometer] plate material which usually would “ pound” didn’t . It also printed a varnish quite well using a [50 durometer] plate.” Bob Holmes, Printing Manager, Pollard Bank Note

“I purchased a set [of PEC’s] for a difficult job we print and scheduled it to run on my third shift. I came in early the next day to help them out, and they had already finished the job. The cylinders paid for themselves the first time we ran them.” Wade Snyder, Press Room Superintendent, Workflow One

“I went this afternoon to [a Narrow Web Printer] to audit their trial with the PEC cylinder. It was outstanding! Normally, they would put a backing paper under the material to reduce gear marks with the original plate cylinder. The PEC proved that without the backing paper, and using the same plate, the print result was almost perfect. The gear marking was gone, and the density of the print was lighter than the print from the original cylinder. The PEC printed closer to the original sample from the customer and showed less dot gain.
Good job for the people who develop and support this product!.” Pascal Ross, Technical Sales, Canflexographics
